The “NSF Healthguard Workbook” will be sent to the mailing
address provided on this registration form once payment has
cleared. The book will be mailed upon receipt of registration
payment. Questions regarding the class or workbook call (510)
567-6724 *If an alternate student is sent, an extra workbook may
be purchased at the County office for $30.00
Topics covered in the training:
-Causes of foodborne illness and ways to prevent it
-Time and temperature controls
-Cross-contamination
-Cleaning and sanitizing
-Rodent and insect control
Participation in the training does not guarantee passing the
examination. Participants are encouraged to review the “NSF
Healthguard Workbook” prior to attending the class.
Who should be certified
California law requires that at least one person responsible at
each food facility be food safety certified by passing an approved
examination
The certified employees can be the owner, manager, or an
employee. The certified person is responsible by law for teaching
other employees to use proper food handling techniques.

3:30 pm – 5:00 pm Exam

Recertification Include a copy of your
expired certificate.
Re-test are available only for class
participants who registered for our class
and did not pass the exam. The cost is
$38 and you must be pre-registered. You
may sit in on the class at no extra charge
if you notify us in advance.

Tests are administered in English unless otherwise noted. Indicate by circling if Chinese,
Spanish, Korean or Japanese is needed. 15 day notice prior to exam is required
