NEED HEALTH INSURANCE?
Alameda County Health Insurance Technicians are here to help with insurance
questions for all Alameda County residents! It’s confidential and citizenship status is not
a problem.
Get screened to see what type of program you may be eligible for:
• Medi-Cal, a free health insurance program for low-income children, adults,
seniors, and persons with disabilities.
• HealthPAC, a locally funded low-cost program that helps cover the cost of
medical services.
• Covered California™ California’s insurance marketplace that offers a range of
plans for individuals and families. You may be eligible for financial assistance to
help pay your monthly premium.
• Kaiser Community Health Coverage Program, persons that do not qualify for
Medi-Cal, Covered California or employer-sponsored insurance may qualify for
free health services.
Where can I enroll or see if I qualify for these programs?
You can be screened and enrolled at the Enrollment Assistance Department of
Alameda County at 1-800-422-9495 or hitassist@acgov.org. Please leave a message,
all calls are returned within 2 business days.
What can I expect at an eligibility and screening appointment?
The Health Insurance Technician will pre-screen you over the phone to see which
program you might qualify for. They will ask you:
• how many people are in your family
• household income
• your address, and
• your citizenship. Even if you are not a citizen, you can still receive health
services in Alameda County.
The Health Insurance Technician will then schedule a phone appointment to start the
application process.
