Fill out the survey form, AND email to us OR mail to Alameda County’s Healthy Nail Salon Program at 1100 San Leandro Blvd, 4th Floor, San Leandro, CA 94577. 2. Schedule and attend free training classes provided by our staff. 3. Schedule a site visit with our staff to verify that all criteria are met. 4. Upon verification, your nail salon will be recognized as a Healthy Nail Salon. What are safer practicesand products? A recognized salon has committed to the following: o Requiring all nail technicians to use nitrile gloves and appropriate respiratory protection o Setting up a designed well-ventilated area with a ventilation unit for artificial nails services to reduce harmful fume and dust indoor Polishes and Lacquers without: o Toluene o Dibutyl phthalate o Formaldehyde Nail Polish Thinners without: o Toluene o Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) Nail Polish Removers without: o Ethyl or butyl acetate Artificial Nails without: o Methyl methacrylate For more information, please visit: o Alameda County website o www.Cahealthynailsalons.org What is theHealthy Nail Salon Program? What are the benefits of joining the program? This is a free and voluntary program that promotes the use of healthier and safer practices and nails products to protect the health of salon staffs, the health of customers and the environment. o Attract more clients by being recognized as a Healthy Nail Salon o Protect health and wellbeing of both nail salon staffs and customers o For a limited time, eligible nail salons can receive ventilation units that are specifically designed for nail salon settings at no cost. o Receive up-to-date information about safety guidelines and regulations o Opportunity to attend free training classes provided by California Healthy Nail Salon Collaboratives o Enhance safer salon environment
