California Children’s Services (CCS) is a state public health program for children
and youth with certain diseases or health
problems. Through this program, children and youth birth to 21 years old can get the health care and services they need.

What is CCS?

Q.
Cal, why is CCS needed?
A.CCS manages medically eligible
conditions. Medi-Cal covers primary
care and any specialty care not
covered by CCS.
Q.Can my child or youth have CCS and
Regional Center services?
A.Yes. Some children and youth are
eligible for both CCS and Regional
Center services.
Q.What if my child has an HMO?
A.Children and youth with HMOs and/or
PPOs may be eligible for CCS if the
requested services are not a benefit of
their HMO/PPO. Children and youth
with HMOs/PPOs are eligible for
medical therapy services.
Q.Are there any fees for CCS services?
A.There are no fees for children and
youth who have full-scope Medi-Cal
insurance. Other families may need to
pay a small fee based on family size
and income.

Eligibility for CCS is Based on:
•Age (birth to 21)
•Residency in Alameda County
•Diagnosis (some serious conditions
requiring special care)
•Income:
♦Full-scope or share of cost Medi-Cal
♦Families with adjusted gross income
(AGI) under $40,000
♦Families with AGI over $40,000 may
be eligible
♦No income requirements for Medical
Therapy Program services
CCS Has Two Programs
Case Management Program
Each CCS client is assigned to a Nurse Case Manager (NCM). The NCMs provide care coordination. The NCMs
work as part of a CCS care team that
consists of social workers, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, administrative staff and doctors.
The CCS social workers determine
financial and residential eligibility as well
as provide psycho-social support, inform ation, and referrals for the wholefamily.
Medical Therapy Program (MTP)
The MTP provides occupational therapy
and physical therapy services to children
and youth with certain long term physical disabilities. Medical Therapy Units (MTUs) are school-based clinics where physical and occupational therapy services are
provided. Services are provided by a staff
of skilled physical therapists (PT) and occupational therapists (OT).
There are no income requirements to receive Medical Therapy Program
services.
